The last label design deployed by Kapp before being fully absorbed into MCA records-and the latter's spiritless presentation-is also my favorite. Post day-glo sherbert color bars and circles of a magnified Kapp logo give off a strange, empty warmth that seemingly defined the endless bummer of the first part of the decade like so much forgotten wallpaper. Kapp's last take.
Linda Perhacs' sublime Parallelograms is a subtle, gauzy and windswept femme psych trip that-save for one other modestly obscure title I can think of-is unmatched in the genre. But you already knew that, right?
Collector Not Completist features daily posts of center-labels from records. Bloggers are invited on board for two-week stints to contribute 14 of their favorite labels from their collections. Collector Not Completist is organized by Alexander Stewart.
"Like at the present time I'm interested in sorting records, because I think that music has like some kind of powers to it that would be interesting to explore, and I've already done this. I've made a large collection of records."
